Strategic Invitation: Join CIRI as a Senior Research Lead / Mentor [SAP-RAI Initiative]
Dear Dr./Prof./Mr./Ms.
I am reaching out to you on behalf of the Cameroon Initiative for Research and Innovation (CIRI). We are an officially registered research and innovation hub dedicated to advancing evidence-based development and localized technological innovation across Central Africa.
We have recently finalized the architecture for a breakthrough initiative launching its pilot phase this October: The Student Apprenticeship Program in Applied Research, Artificial Intelligence, and Non-Profit Business Innovation (SAP-RAI).
The Vision & The Structural Gap
In Cameroon, there is a profound structural mismatch between theoretical academic education and the quantitative, data-driven competencies demanded by international development actors. The SAP-RAI program bridges this gap by embedding 60 top-tier undergraduate and postgraduate students annually into three rigorous, cross-functional operational tracks: Applied Research , Applied AI/Tech , and Non-Profit Management.
Operating on an innovative, offline-first data model to circumvent local infrastructure challenges, these students work in tight triads to process field data, build automated pipelines, and engineer technical grant proposals.
Why We Need Your Expertise: The Role of Senior Mentor
To guarantee unassailable data integrity and academic rigor, we are bypassing generic training models. We are establishing an elite cohort of Mature Researchers and Industry Professionals to serve as Technical Track Leads and Senior Mentors.
In this role, you will not be teaching abstract theory. Instead, you will supervise and audit the live, practical outputs of these brilliant student teams during their bi-weekly project sprints and portfolio defenses.
The Value Proposition: How This Benefits You
CIRI operates as a collaborative ecosystem where value is recycled. By joining us as a Senior Professional, you gain immediate access to our expanding institutional capacity:
1. Access to Clean Field Data: You will have a dedicated team of apprentices to do the heavy lifting of data collection, cleaning, and formatting—providing you with high-integrity baseline datasets for your own independent publications and studies.
2. Guaranteed Research Leadership: As CIRI scales its institutional grant capture pipeline (targeting major bilateral donors, green funds, and international NGOs), Senior Mentors within this program will hold first-right-of-refusal to step in as Principal Investigators (PIs) or Paid Research Leads on funded projects.
3. Institutional Affiliation & Visbility: Your profile, research focus, and mentorship track will be prominently featured on CIRI's digital portal, positioning you at the forefront of the Open Science movement in Sub-Saharan Africa.
4. Structured Milestone Honorariums: While this pilot acts as an agile Proof-of-Concept, we have built-in dedicated budget lines for Technical Track Lead Honorariums to value your professional oversight and auditing time.
Next Steps
We are looking for seasoned minds who are passionate about building African research infrastructure while positioning themselves for major regional consulting and grant opportunities.
If you are open to exploring how your current research or professional portfolio aligns with CIRI's institutional framework, please let us know a convenient time for a brief virtual sync this week, or reply directly with your CV/Research Profile.
You can review our institutional framework and active tracking setups at www.ciri-cameroon.org.
Warm regards,
Shiyntum Emeal Kelah
