Job Title: Histology Technician (HT – ASCP)

Location: Hyannis, MA 02601

Job Type: Temp-to-Permanent

Duration: 13 Weeks

Pay Rate: $2,345 – $2,561 per week

Shift Details

  • Schedule: Monday – Friday
  • Shift Options:
    • 4:30 AM – 12:30 PM
    • 5:00 AM – 1:00 PM
    • 5:30 AM – 1:30 PM
  • Additional Requirements: Occasional weekends and holidays as needed

Position Overview

"Navitas Healthcare, LLC" is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Histology Technician to support high-quality tissue preparation and laboratory operations. This role involves processing specimens, preparing slides, performing specialized staining procedures, and assisting pathologists, while maintaining strict compliance with laboratory standards and quality control protocols.

Key Responsibilities

  • Process, embed, section, mount, and stain tissue specimens
  • Prepare microscope slides, reagents, and laboratory solutions
  • Perform specimen accessioning, labeling, and tissue cassette preparation
  • Generate and maintain histology worksheets and documentation
  • Assist pathologists with frozen section procedures
  • Support grossing room procedures alongside pathology staff
  • Perform special staining techniques
  • Troubleshoot and conduct preventive maintenance on laboratory equipment
  • Assist with reviewing and updating laboratory procedures and manuals
  • Maintain inventory, order supplies, and ensure cost-effective usage
  • Support quality control, quality assurance, and development of new methodologies
  • Ensure compliance with CAP and CLSI standards
  • Train new staff in histology techniques and procedures
  • Deliver in-service education sessions as needed
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of laboratory workspaces
  • Uphold confidentiality and professional communication standards
  • Participate in ongoing professional development and training
  • Follow all departmental and facility policies, including safety protocols
  • Perform additional duties as assigned

Qualifications & Requirements

  • HT (ASCP) certification required
  • Degree in a clinical/laboratory field or high school diploma with relevant experience
  • Strong English communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced lab environment
